Suatu malam Dibyo ketika masih di Akademi Kepolisian di Candi, di pinggiran Semarang, mendapat tugas praktek lapangan untuk pertama kalinya diantar seorang sersan pelatih memasuki kota Semarang. Mereka sampai di sebelah tempat dekat perempatan jalan.
“Nah, kau lihat lampu merah itu? Kau bertugas di sana,” ujar sang sersan sambil menunjuk Trafic Light yang sedang menyala merah di perempatan jalan.
Semalaman taruna Dibyo tidak pulang-pulang. Sehari kemudian ia muncul dan langsung menghadap sang sersan pelatih.
“Ke mana saja engkau?” hardik sang sersan.
“Siap! Ke Solo, lalu balik kembali,” jawab Dibyo tenang tetapi tegas, “ ternyata lampu merah itu lampu belakang sebuah truck. Laporan selesai!”
