grup-grup baru menambah warna musik Indonesia. Namun di tengah semakin mudahnya grup band muncul ke permukaan, beberapa grup di tanah air ini diyakini menjadi pilar kokohnya musik tanah air. Memang grup-grup band berikut bukan awal kelompok musik yang ada di Indonesia, tetapi pengaruhnya dianggap luar biasa di Indonesia dari aliran, semangat dan jenis musik yang di usungnya, serta menjadi tiang pancang di eranya masing-masing. Berikut adalah 5 grup band yang dianggap bagian penting dari sejarah perjalan musik Indonesia :

Grup band Indonesia-Belanda ini pernah meraih sukses di pasar Eropa di era 1950-an. Bahkan ketenarannya bersama aliran rock n’ roll ini jauh sebelum The Rolling Stones dan The Beatles berjaya, Herman Tielman asal Kupang dan Flora Lorine Hess asal Semarang. Karier rekaman mereka dimulai ketika keluarga Tielman pada tahun 1957 hijrah dan menetap di Breda, Belanda.


The Tielman Brothers dengan personelnya, Andy (vokal, gitar), Reggy (gitar, banjo, vokal), Ponthon (Contrabass, gitar, vokal), Herman Lawrace (drum), Janette Loraine (Vokal) dipercaya lebih dulu memperkenalkan musik beraliran rock sebelum The Beatles.


Andy Tielman, sang frontman, bahkan dipercaya telah memopulerkan atraksi bermain gitar dengan gigi, di belakang kepala atau di belakang badan jauh sebelum Jimmi Hendrix, Jimmy Page dan Ritchie Blackmore. The Tielman Brothers pernah tampil di hadapan Presiden pertama Republik Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno.



Sebelumnya berdiri dengan nama Koes Bersaudara, dan tetapkan menjadi Koes Plus pada 1969 dan melejit di era-70an. Karya pelopor musik pop dan rock and roll di Indonesia ini terkenal abadi. Terbukti banyak grup baru membawakan lagu-lagunya dan dimasukan dalam sebuah album. Wajar jika Koes Plus merupakan raja sekaligus kiblat musik lantaran berhasil menciptakan 953 lagu yang terhimpun dalam 89 album. Personel terakhir saat bernama Koes Plus adalah Tonny Koeswoyo, Yon Koeswoyo, Yok Koeswoyo, dan Kasmurry atau yang lebih dikenal dengan nama Murry.



Grup band ini mampu bertahan hingga industri musik di Indonesia memasuki era modern, seperti tahun 2000. Prestasi paling fenomenal terjadi di tahun 1970 saat God Bless terpilih mejadi band pembuka grup rock legendaris dunia, Deep Purple di Jakarta tepatnya tahun 1975. Didirikan dengan nama Crazy Wheels oleh Ahmad “Iyek” Albar bersama Donny Fattah, Fuad Hasan dan Ludwig Lemans (gitaris Clover Leaf grup Iyek di Belanda) dan berganti nama menjadi God Bless, 5 Mei 1973.


Grup yang dianggap bapanya grup rock di Indonesia ini, terkenal sering gonta-ganti personel. Single Semut Hitam dianggap lagu paling dikenal. Saat ini God Bless di isi, Ahmad Albar (vokal), Ian Antono (gitar), Donny Fattah (bass), Yaya Moektio (drum) dan Abadi Soesman (keyboard). God Bless telah menelurkan enam album, God Bless (1975), Cemin (1980), Semut Hitam (1988), Raksasa (1989), Apa Kabar (1997) dan 36th (2009), serta tiga album kompilasi, The Story of God Bless (1990), 18 Greatest Hits of God Bless (1992) dan The Greatest Slow Hits (1999).



Awalnya lahir dengan nama Cikini Stones Complex. Sesuai dengan nama grup, musik yang dibawakannya milik Rolling Stones. Kejenuhan dalam mengusung lagu milik orang lain membuat sang pentolan Bimo Setiawan Sidharta (Bimbim) membentuk grup baru pada 26 Desember 1983 dengan nama Slank.


Awal formasi Bimbim (Drum), Bongky (Bass), Pay (Gitar), Kaka (Vokal) dan Indra (Keyboard), Slank membuka khasanah musik Indonesia dengan konsep yang dianggap berani yaitu rock and roll dan blues. Padahal pada saat itu, nuansa rock masih kental. Sedangkan warna yang ditawarkan Slank tidak komersial.

Namun loyalitas Slankers menjadikan Slank diyakini sebagai grup dengan fans terbanyak. Slank juga diyakini sebagai grup dengan bayaran termahal dengan 500 juta rupiah pershow. Setelah personelnya terlepas dari narkoba Slank semakin berjaya hingga melahirkan 17 album studio, empat album live dan tiga album bertema film. Kini Slank berpersonel Bimbim (drum), Kaka (vokal), Mohammad Ridwan Hafiedz atau Ridho (gitar), Abdee Negara (gitar) dan Ivanka (bass). Bersama formasi inilah Slank pernah tur Amerika.

Revalina S Temat lahir di Jakarta pada tanggal 26 November 1985. Putri pasangan Sayuti Temat dan Rachmaniar itu merupakan anak ketiga dari empat bersaudara.

Karir wanita yang akrab dengan nama panggilan Reva ini diawali sebagai bintang model. Reva yang pernah menjadi Juara Favorite Gadis Sampul 1999 Majalah Gadis, kemudian melebar sebagai aktris sinetron dan layar lebar. Ia pernah menjadi model untuk produk Clear, Relaxa bersama DJ Winky dan Red A.

Ia juga telah membintangi beberapa sinetron diantaranya PERCIKAN SANGKURIANG, CINTAKU DI KAMPUS BIRU 2, JP ASYIKNYA PACARAN, BAWANG MERAH BAWANG PUTIH, DARA MANISKU, HIKMAH 2 dan KEMBANG SURGA. Film TV CINTA DENGAN LUKA (2002) dan GERANGAN CINTA (2003).

Bintang video clip Kupilih Dia (Cokelat, 2004) dan Juwita (Yovie & The Nuno) itu juga berakting di layar lebar. Film terbaru yang dibintanginya POCONG 2 dirilis akhir 2006.

Reva semakin memantapkan aktingnya di layar lebar dengan menjadi pemeran utama film PEREMPUAN BERKALUNG SORBAN (PBS). Film garapan sutradara Hanung Bramantyo ini diangkat dari Novel karya Abidah Al Khalieqy yang mengisahkan perjuangan dan pengorbanan seorang muslimah bernama Annisa yang diperankan oleh Reva. Melalui akting dalam film tersebut , Reva meraih penghargaan pertamanya sebagai Pemeran Utama Wanita Terfavorit dalam ajang Indonesian Movie Awards 2009.

Nikita Willy adalah bintang  muda Indonesia, yang telah membintangi sejumlah iklan, sinetron dan film layar lebar. Nikita mulai dikenal publik saat berperan dalam sinetron ROMAN PICISAN bersama aktor asal Papua, Evan Sanders.

Perempuan kelahiran Jakarta, 29 Juni 1994 ini mulai berkarir sejak usia enam tahun. Diantaran sinetron yang pernah dibintanginya adalah BULAN BINTANG. Disusul kemudian sinetron seperti ROMAN PICISAN, RATU MALU DAN JENDRAL KANCIL, SI CECEP, HABIBI DAN HABIBAH, PACAR PILIHAN, PENGANTIN KECILKU dan sebuah FTV, MAK COMBLANG JATUH CINTA.

Sementara sebagai model iklan, Nikita pernah menjadi model iklan untuk permen Milton, Citra Body Lotion, kosmetik Pigeon, makanan Choki-Choki, detergent Total, Holland Bakery, Bank BNI, Bank BII dan wafer coklat Roma.


Pemain bintang film BESTFRIENDS? mendapat kesempatan untuk bermain sinetron stripping di awal 2009, NIKITA. Sinetron yang disutradarai oleh Maruli Ara dan Gita Asmara ini, Nikita harus beradu akting dengan aktor Dude Harlino.

Dalam sinetron yang dibitanginya tidak jarang ia harus berperan sebagai karakter yang jauh lebih dewasa dari umur sebenarnya.

Putri Titian Asih atau biasa diapnggil dengan nama Tian adalah seorang bintang di dunia sinetron Indonesia. Tian terkenal dengan aktingnya dalam mini seri Jungkir Balik Dunia Sissy.

Selain itu, ia juga pernah tampil membintangi Film Televisi (FTV) Ajari Aku Cinta, bersama Gita Gutawa. Disusul kemudian sinetron lajutan Jungkir Balik Dunia Sissy, Dunia Sissy Jungkir Balik Lagi.

Putri juga dikenal sebagai bintang iklan sejumlah produk, termasuk di antaranya, produk untuk snack Chitato, Chiki JetZet, Pepsodent Extra, XL, Mie Gelas, Nokia,Kacang Iyes, dan Yamaha Mio.

Pendukung FTV Jomblo So What Gitu Loh ini terlahir di Palembang, 7 April 1991, tercatat sebagai siswi SMA Negeri 4 Gambir, Jakarta Pusat.

Justin Bieber (pronounced /ˈbiːbər/, BEE-bər) is a Canadian pop/R&B singer. His performances on YouTube were seen by Scooter Braun, who later became his manager. Braun arranged for him to meet with Usher in Atlanta, Georgia, and Bieber was soon signed to Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG), a joint venture between Braun and Usher, and then to a recording contract with Island Records offered by L.A. Reid.

His debut single, "One Time", was released worldwide during 2009, and charted within the top thirty in over ten countries. It was followed by his debut release, My World on November 17, 2009, which was certified platinum in the United States, which at the time gave Bieber the highest debut by a new artist in the year, and made Bieber the first artist to have seven songs from a debut album chart on Billboard's Hot 100 chart. His first full studio release, My World 2.0 was released on March 23, 2010, debuting at number one and within the top ten of several countries. It was preceded by the international hit song, "Baby".

Bieber was born on March 1, 1994 in Stratford, Ontario. Bieber's mother, Pattie Mallette, was 18 years old when she became pregnant with her son. Bieber was raised as an only child by Mallette, who worked low-paying office jobs, though Bieber maintains contact with his father. As he grew, Bieber taught himself to play the piano, drums, guitar, and trumpet. In late 2007, when he was twelve, Bieber sang Ne-Yo's "So Sick" for a local singing competition in Stratford and placed second. Mallette posted a video of the performance on YouTube for their family and friends to see. You could send me a Christian man, a Christian label!" Bieber performed Stevie Wonder's "Someday at Christmas" for U.S. President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama at the White House for Christmas in Washington, which was broadcast on December 20, 2009 on USA television broadcaster TNT. Bieber was also one of the performers at Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest on December 31. Bieber was a presenter at the 52nd Grammy Awards on January 31, 2010. He was invited to be a vocalist for the remake of We Are The World for its 25th anniversary to benefit Haiti after the earthquake. Bieber sings the opening line, which was sung by Lionel Richie in the original version. On March 12, 2010, a version of K'naan's "Wavin' Flag" recorded by a collective of Canadian musicians known as Young Artists for Haiti was released. Bieber is featured in the song, performing the closing lines.

"Baby", the lead single from the second half of his debut album, which features Ludacris, was released in January 2010 and became his biggest hit thus far, charting at number five in the U.S. and reaching the top ten in seven other countries. Two digital singles, "Never Let You Go", and "U Smile" were top thirty hits on the U.S. Hot 100, and top twenty hits in Canada. Bieber will begin recording his next release in Summer 2010 in New York City. British singer and songwriter Taio Cruz has confirmed he is writing on Bieber's next project.

Bieber's voice is now deeper than it was when he recorded his albums because of puberty. The singer discussing his vocals remarked, "It cracks. Like every teenage boy, I'm dealing with it and I have the best vocal coach in the world. Some of the notes I hit on "Baby" I can't hit anymore. We have to lower the key when I sing live."

According to Jan Hoffman of The New York Times, part of Bieber's appeal stems from his YouTube channel. In contrast to singers whose careers were launched by high profile franchises like American Idol or the Disney Channel, "Justin, his fans passionately believe, is homemade. Long before he released his EP, “My World,” in mid-November, the YouTube videos attracted millions of views." Braun recognized the appeal. Prior to flying him to Atlanta, Braun wanted to "build him up more on YouTube first" and had Bieber record more home videos for the channel. "I said: ‘Justin, sing like there’s no one in the room. But let’s not use expensive cameras.’ We’ll give it to kids, let them do the work, so that they feel like it’s theirs," recalled Braun. Bieber continues to upload videos to the same channel and has opened a Twitter account, from which he interacts with fans regularly. The accounts also serve marketing purposes; for example, Bieber's music video for "One Time" only began selling quickly after it was uploaded to YouTube.

Usher comments that while he and Bieber were both signed at the same time, "I had the chance to ramp up my success, where this has happened to Bieber abruptly." As a result, Usher, Braun, Bieber's bodyguard, Kenny, and other adults surrounding Bieber constantly coach him on handling fame and his public image. After signing Bieber, Usher appointed one of his former assistants, Ryan Good, to be Bieber's road manager and stylist. Good, nicknamed Bieber's "swagger coach", helped develop Bieber's public image. Good created a "streetwise look" for the singer which consisted of baseball caps, hoodies, dog chains and flashy sneakers. Amy Kaufman of The Los Angeles Times comments, "Though a product of a middle-class suburban upbringing in Stratford, Ontario, Bieber's manner of dress and speech ("Wassup man, how you doin'?" or "It's like, you know, whateva' ") suggest he's mimicking his favorite rappers."

Bieber is often featured in teen magazines such as Tiger Beat, and has been labeled a "teen hearthrob".
Crowd control problems
Thousands of screaming fans showed up at a US mall to see Bieber on November 27, 2009

Bieber's popularity has caused safety concerns. While promoting My World, Bieber was scheduled to appear at Long Island's Roosevelt Field Mall, but the performance had to be cancelled. Over 3,000 screaming fans showed up for the appearance. The event got out of control, and over 35 units from the Nassau County and Garden City police departments had to be called in. Several fans received minor injuries. The police arrested an Island Records senior vice-president, James A. Roppo, reportedly for hindering the police's crowd control efforts by not sending a timely message on Twitter as instructed by the police. James Roppo pleaded not guilty to all charges. On March 24, 2010 Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, was arrested on one count of second-degree reckless endangerment and one count of second-degree criminal nuisance related to the incident. Braun pleaded not guilty to both charges and was later released.

On April 27, 2010, a scheduled promotional performance was cancelled by Australian police after several girls were injured in a crowd crush. Bieber was scheduled to sing three songs for the Channel Seven program, Sunrise. An estimated 4,000 pre-teen girls showed up at 3:00am and stormed past safety barricades. In addition to those injured, dozens were treated for hyperventilation. In a Twitter message after the incident, Bieber said: "I want to make this clear... I don't cancel.” Bieber's tweet continued, stating: “I woke up this morning to the police canceling the show for safety reasons. I’m very happy about the welcome and the love from around the world, but I want everyone to still remember my fans safety comes first. At the end of the day I want you all to enjoy the music."

Arriving at Auckland airport in New Zealand later that day, RadioLIVE New Zealand reported on airport security's efforts to keep Bieber out of trouble. He later tweeted that somebody stole his hat and "knocked down [his] mama." The teenage girl who stole the hat then uploaded a video to the Internet, outlining the demands of her extortion attempt. The next day, she returned the hat amid speculation of possible criminal charges.

Valentino Rossi, (born February 16, 1979 in Urbino), is an Italian professional motorcycle racer and multiple MotoGP World Champion. He is one of the most successful motorcycle racers of all time, with 9 Grand Prix World Championships to his name. According to Sports Illustrated, Rossi is one of the highest earning sports personalities in the world, having earned an estimated $34 million in 2007.

Following his father, Graziano Rossi, Rossi started racing in Grand Prix in 1996 for Aprilia in the 125cc category and won his first World Championship the following year. From there, he moved up to the 250cc category with Aprilia and won the 250cc World Championship in 1999. He won the 500cc World Championship with Honda in 2001, the MotoGP World Championships (also with Honda) in 2002 and 2003, and continued his streak of back-to-back championships by winning the 2004 and 2005 titles after leaving Honda to join Yamaha, before regaining the title in 2008 and retaining it in 2009.

Rossi is first in all time 500 cc/MotoGP race wins standings, with 77 victories, and second in all time overall wins standings with 103 race wins (behind Giacomo Agostini with 122).

Macht was born in The Bronx, New York, the son of Suzanne Victoria Pulier, a museum curator and archivist, and actor Stephen Macht. Film career

While still in Texas, Zellweger appeared in several films. One was A Taste for Killing (1992) as Mary Lou, followed by a minor role in ABC TV mini series named Murder in the Heartland (1993). The following year, she appeared in Reality Bites (1994), the directorial debut of Ben Stiller, and in the biopic film 8 Seconds, directed by John G. Avildsen.

Zellweger's first main part in a movie came with the 1994 horror story Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, alongside Matthew McConaughey. She played Jenny, a teenager who leaves a prom early with three friends and ended up getting into a car accident, which leads to their meeting a murderous family. Zellweger dated director Joshua Pate, whom she began seeing in November 1997 after working on his film Deceiver. She also was rumored to have dated George Clooney. Her first high-profile romance was with actor/comedian Jim Carrey. The relationship ended in December 2000. The two were rumored to have been engaged, but Zellweger frequently denied this claim. Zellweger poked fun at the prior relationship when she ended her opening monologue on Saturday Night Live by reading an entry from her own "diary", marked "Dear Diary, I can't believe I am dating Jim Carrey."

Thandiwe Adjewa "Thandie" Newton (born 6 November 1972) is an English actress. She has appeared in a number of successful British and American films, including The Pursuit of Happyness; Run, Fat Boy, Run; Mission: Impossible II; Crash and W.

Newton was born in London, England, and is the daughter of Nyasha, a Zimbabwean health-care worker, and Nick Newton, an English laboratory technician and artist. Her birthplace has been incorrectly reported to be Zambia in some biographies, however she has confirmed in interviews that she was born in London, during a two-week trip by her parents. The name "Thandiwe" means "beloved" in Ndebele, Zulu, Xhosa or Swazi and the name "Thandie" is pronounced Tan-dee. According to Newton, her mother is a Zimbabwean Shona Princess. Raised in London and Penzance, Cornwall, she went on to read Archaeology and Anthropology at Downing College, Cambridge, from 1992 to 1995, where she achieved a 2:1.

Chiwetel Ejiofor, OBE (IPA: [/tʃuwɛtəl ɛdʒəfɔː/]; born 10 July 1974) is a Golden Globe-nominated British actor.

Ejiofor was born in London's Forest Gate to Nigerian parents who belonged to the Igbo ethnic group. His father, Arinze, was a doctor, and his mother, Obiajulu, was a pharmacist. He began acting in school plays at the age of thirteen at Dulwich College and joined the National Youth Theatre and played the title role in Othello at the Bloomsbury Theatre in September 1995, and again at the Arts Theatre in 1996 when he starred opposite Rachael Stirling, who played Desdemona.

Ejiofor made his film debut in the television movie Deadly Voyage in 1996. He went on to become a prominent stage actor in London. In Steven Spielberg's Amistad, he gave memorable support to Djimon Hounsou's Cinque as interpreter Ens. James Covey. In 1999, he appeared in the British film G:MT, in which he appeared nude as he walked towards the camera. Amanda Peet (born January 11, 1972) is an American actress.

After studying with Uta Hagen, Peet began her career in television commercials, and progressed to small roles in television and indie movies. Peet's first screen performance was a television commercial for Skittles. Her early roles included a guest role on the television series Law & Order. She made her film debut in Animal Room (1995). Peet maintained a steady acting career in relatively obscure indie movies.

Her first major role was as "Jack" in the 1999 WB network series Jack & Jill (which aired for two seasons). She also appeared in the eighth-season finale of Seinfeld ("The Summer of George") as a waitress whom Jerry Seinfeld meets. Peet's first role in a widely-released feature film came in 2000, with The Whole Nine Yards, starring with Bruce Willis. That same year, she was voted one of the 50 Most Beautiful People in the World by People magazine. Peet was also in the movie Saving Silverman with Jason Biggs, Jack Black and Steve Zahn, where she portrayed psychologist Judith. She also starred in Something's Gotta Give in 2003, playing Diane Keaton's daughter, and, at one point, Jack Nicholson's girlfriend.

In 2005, Peet appeared in the play This Is How It Goes, filling in for Marisa Tomei at the last minute after six days of rehearsal. In the same year, she also co-starred in the films Syriana alongside Matt Damon and George Clooney, and A Lot Like Love, with Ashton Kutcher. In February 2006, she was performing in Neil Simon's Broadway production of Barefoot in the Park.

Peet was a member of the cast of the television series Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip, which premiered on NBC on September 18, 2006. She starred with Matthew Perry, with whom she worked in The Whole Nine Yards and The Whole Ten Yards, and Sarah Paulson, with whom she co-starred in Jack & Jill. In Studio 60, Peet's character Jordan McDeere was the newly-appointed president of the National Broadcasting System (NBS). In 2006, she also starred along with Dermot Mulroney in Griffin and Phoenix, where she played a terminally-ill woman living life to the fullest.

In 2007's The Ex, a comedy co-starring Zach Braff, Peet played an attorney who stays home to raise a new baby. In 2008, Peet went on to play an FBI agent in The X-Files: I Want to Believe.

In 2009, Peet will star as Kate in 2012, a disaster film directed by Roland Emmerich set for release on November 13.

Personal life

Peet married screenwriter David Benioff on September 30, 2006, in New York City and gave birth to a daughter, Frances Pen, on February 20, 2007. The three live in Manhattan and Los Angeles. She was also maid of honor at Lauren Holly's marriage in 2001 with Francis Greco.

In 2008 Peet volunteered to be a spokeswoman for Every Child By Two (ECBT), a non-profit organization which advocates childhood vaccination. Peet began working with the group after becoming concerned by the "amount of misinformation floating around [about vaccines], particularly in Hollywood." In an interview with Cookie, Peet stated: "Frankly, I feel that parents who don't vaccinate their children are parasites," referring to the benefit unvaccinated children derive from herd immunity and the concern that dropping vaccination rates may put all children at increased risk of preventable disease. Peet's comments stirred controversy; in response, she apologized for using the term "parasites", but affirmed her position on the importance and safety of vaccination.

John Paul Cusack (born June 28, 1966) is an American film actor and screenwriter. He won the 1990 Most Promising Actor CFCA Award for Say Anything..., the 1998 Favorite Supporting Actor Blockbuster Entertainment Award for Con Air, and the 2000 Commitment to Chicago Award.

Cusack was born in Evanston, Illinois, to an Irish American Catholic family. His father, Dick Cusack (1925—2003), and siblings Ann, Joan, Bill, and Susie have also been actors; his father was also a documentary filmmaker, owned a film production company, and was a friend of activist Philip Berrigan. Cusack's mother, Nancy, is a former mathematics teacher and political activist. Cusack spent a year at New York University before dropping out, saying that he had "too much fire in his belly".

Career

Cusack gained fame in the mid-1980s after appearing in teen movies such as Better Off Dead, The Sure Thing, One Crazy Summer, and Sixteen Candles. Cusack made a cameo in the 1988 music video for "Trip At The Brain" by Suicidal Tendencies. His biggest success in that genre is arguably his starring role as Lloyd Dobler in Cameron Crowe's Say Anything. His roles broadened in the late 1980s and early 1990s with more serious-minded fare such as the political satire True Colors and the film noir thriller The Grifters.

Cusack became a proven box office success with his roles in the dark comedy Grosse Pointe Blank and the Jerry Bruckheimer blockbuster Con Air. In the years hence, his range of films has diversified, appearing in roles such as an obsessive puppeteer in Being John Malkovich, a lovelorn record store owner in High Fidelity, and a Jewish art dealer mentoring a young Adolf Hitler in Max. He starred in the horror film 1408, based on Stephen King's short story of the same name. He next appeared as a widowed father in the Iraq War-themed drama Grace is Gone and as assassin Brand Hauser in the dark political satire, War, Inc., along with Hilary Duff and Marisa Tomei.

His sister Joan Cusack and close friend Jeremy Piven have appeared in many of his films. The siblings appeared as two geeks in Sixteen Candles: John as one of Farmer Ted's posse, and Joan as the geek with the neck brace. They also appeared together in High Fidelity, Grosse Pointe Blank, Cradle Will Rock, Martian Child, Say Anything, and War, Inc.. Piven and Cusack played opposite one another in One Crazy Summer, Serendipity, and Grosse Pointe Blank. Cusack also had a brief cameo, seen from behind but speaking a line of dialogue, in Broadcast News, in which Joan also appeared. Piven also had roles in Say Anything, The Grifters, Runaway Jury and Grosse Pointe Blank.

Cusack will next be seen in Roland Emmerich's disaster film, 2012, which is scheduled to be released in theaters November 13, 2009, as Jackson Curtis, a book writer and limo driver.

Personal and political life

Since May 2005, Cusack has been an occasional contributing blogger at The Huffington Post, including an interview with Naomi Klein. He has written extensively on his opposition to the war in Iraq and his disdain for the Bush administration, calling its worldview "depressing, corrupt, unlawful, and tragically absurd". He also appeared in a June 2008 MoveOn.org ad, where he makes the claim that George W. Bush and John McCain have the same governing priorities.

Cusack has an allegiance to both the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago White Sox, for which, he says, he's "in trouble there for that." He has led the crowd in a performance of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" at Wrigley Field.

In 2008, police arrested a woman suspected of stalking Cusack. On October 10, 2008, the woman pleaded no contest and received five years probation and mandatory psychiatric counseling, and was ordered to avoid Cusack, his home and business for the next 10 years.

Radha Rani Amber Indigo Anunda Mitchell (born November 12, 1973) is an Australian actress.

Mitchell was born in Melbourne and had a spiritually inclined upbringing, drawing from Hindu culture by her parents, who divorced during her childhood. Her mother is a model turned designer and her father is a filmmaker. She attended the St Michael's Grammar School. Her first name, "Radha", is of Hindu origin, where the name is described to mean devotion and is the name of the lover of teenage Lord Krishna. The other parts of her name coming from an Indian origin are Rani meaning Queen and Anunda meaning joy.

Mitchell is a vegetarian and also practices yoga.

Mitchell began her career starring on ABC TV's Sugar and Spice in 1988. Progressing to Neighbours in 1994, Mitchell played two separate characters over her 3-year stint on the show.

In 1997, she starred in two films—High Art and Everything Put Together—both Independent Spirit Award winners. Other films—including Pitch Black opposite Vin Diesel, Phone Booth opposite Colin Farrell, and Man on Fire opposite Denzel Washington—soon followed.

Mitchell gained recognition for her performance in the Academy Award–winning Finding Neverland, which co-starred Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet. This performance for all co-stars earned each a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Cast in a Motion Picture.

Mitchell then took the title role in Woody Allen's Melinda and Melinda, followed by a part with Josh Hartnett in Mozart and the Whale and then starred in the movie adaptation of the videogame Silent Hill. Most recently, Mitchell starred in Rogue with Michael Vartan. She will next be seen in Henry Poole Is Here and The Children of Huang Shi.
